My Champ is finally flying with the new 85HP engine & aluminum prop. I
am still breaking it in but the performance even with a prop that is too
coarse is impressive. I do have to throttle back to avoid exceeding the
95mph level flight limit specified in the STC. I will eventually have
the prop re-pitched.

Does anybody have floats for sale? I recently moved to a house on Rice
Lake Ontario, and want to put the Champ on floats.  The "generally
accepted wisdom" seems to be that EDO 1400s are best. The 1320s are
better floats, but do not have enough displacement for a fully loaded
Champ. I supposes PK1500s would be a possibility, but the seem to be rare.

The only floats I found on Barnstormers with Champ rigging are EDO 1650s
which I suspect would be too heavy, but I can't find weights online to
compare.

Who here has had a Champ or Chief on floats? I am looking for any advice
or recommendations about how to approach this.

Hi Rob,

I have some 1320s that I might part with if you’re interested. Rigged for a Champ. They are located in South Carolina.

Hi James,

I'd be interested if my wife and I were smaller, but the Champ is usually maxed out (or more!) with a gross weight of 1320#. What was your experience with them? I keep hearing they don't really have enough flotation for the Champ.

Rob
