Drag Chute Door Lock

Spooky,
On those last pictures that were uploaded to 5053phantoms, the
ones of the F-4J being put on display. The T handle protruding just
to the left on the centerline of the tail of the airplane, that's the
external locking mechanism for the parabrake door housing if I'm not
mistaken. Also, it is removable for storage?

? I am not sure if it is but what I found out when I looked on this
picture was that on other F-4 models the handle is on the right side.

Yeah that's the handle I was referring to. I saw it in another picture and the handle was in the same position.

Yeah sorry, you are right. On the German F-4F it´s on the same side.
Maybe I´m too long away from this aircraft :-)

That is the lock handle for the parabrake door?

Yes. It is used to lock/unlock the door. From the cockpit also the the
chute can be released after landing. Ref.
