Question about ez.ExitReq()

What is the actual exit request signal and can it be received through
the RS232 port as an external command? It seems like external
commands sent over the RS232 are not functional while a script is
running, but the exit request can be received over the USB from the
exluaide program. I want to make sure that I don’t accidently send an
exit request while sending some multiple character message and or byte
data to the ezlcd.
