This group operates like the BEyeCyclists group, except that
EyeMatters is public and anybody can contribute to it without
registering.
Eye-Matters is intended only to supplement, not replace, existing
means of communication such as local notice boards, the Eye magazine,
the town web site etc.
Eye-Matters may contain some similar material to that published by
David Burn in his Yaxley newsletter (LNG) , but it has no editor, it
is not moderated and is available to all. Contributions are
published almost instantly. Because all the messages are stored
centrally there is no need to receive, store and manage the data on
your own machine and anyone can browse past and present messages
simply by visiting the website from anywhere with an internet
connection.
You can use email if you prefer that method to visiting the website,
but you do not need a list of recipients - just send an email to Eye-
Mat...@GoogleGroups.com and it will be immediately published for all
to see. You have the option of receiving an automatic email whenever
anybody makes an announcement or contributes to a discussion, but you
will not receive emails unless you specifically request this to
happen.
If you want to informed by email when someone contributes to Eye-
Matters you will need to create a Google Account for yourself unless
you already have one. This is free and quick to do – just visit the
site (
http://groups.google.com/group/eye-matters), click the button
“Create an account” and follow the instructions. Any problems –
just ask me.
For the convenience of all please try to keep to these three rules
1 When replying to a message do not repeat the old message at
the bottom of your new message – delete it completely or quote
selectively from it.
2 Do not change the subject unless you want to create a new
thread of discussion
3 The more polite you are the more convincing you will be (I
think)
