Saturday 17th September is a big day for Eye, as two special events are happening on that day that will bring lots of visitors into the Town.

Firstly, just after midday, 90 cyclists - along with police outriders to clear the roads, and support vehicles - will whizz through Eye on the penultimate stage of this year`s CYCLE TOUR OF BRITAIN.  This will be an opportunity to showcase Eye, and to encourage more people on to their bikes, and there are already plans to organise a fancy dress cycle ride and/or treasure hunt to link in with the event.

If you have ideas on things that we could do on the day, or on the days leading up to the Tour Stage, post them on eye-matters, or email merli...@hotmail.com

The cycle Tour of Eye would be timed to link in with- and end at- the second big event on the 17th: the ANNUAL DUCK RACE on THE PENNINGS.  As last year, the race is organised by 1st Eye Scout Group, and money raised from the sale of the ducks (close to 1000 ducks last year) will go towards the New Scout Hut building fund.  But it is also a chance for local voluntary groups and organisations to set up their stalls and raise money for their ventures.  It is also hoped to have some displays for all the family to enjoy.

So, if you would like to have a stall, or can alert a group that you are part of to the possibilities of fund raising on a fun-filled day, please let eye-matters know, or email the above.

Cheers
