I have noted that the waste disposal site is due to close on the 31st July. What I would like to know is what discussions have taken place to keep it open as this service is widely used and needed by the community.
I am not aware of the running costs – is anyone else?
Why hasn’t the Council considered that it could be run as a “ pay as you go service”. This was I believe raised by a member of the public at one of the meetings and met with a very feeble and negative response from a representative from the Council. Surely, with the heavy usage of the waste disposal site from the surrounding area there must be a way of keeping it going even if we have to pay for it?
The consequences on its closure could and will, surely, rebound by people unwilling to travel all the way to Stowmarket dumping their unwanted household items in and around the countryside. The recycle facility in the car park at Eye is already abused by people who leave small items for the Council, presumably, to remove.
Other views much appreciated.
