Picto-Selector is a windows application for creating visual schedules. It is used by many teachers and parents. But there are also reports of people using it in daycare for elderly people.
The download contains over 34000 pictos (images) translated to English, Dutch, German, French, Danish, Spanish, Brazilian and Italian. (Some pictos are also translated to Arabic, Swedish, Portuguese and Indonesian)
From time to time you will be asked to check for updates. This will ensure that you have the latest version and picto library. You can always manually check for updates in the Help menu.
Picto Selector is an application forWindows operating systems and designed to facilitate the selection and printing of communication boards with pictograms, images and photographs.
At the end of the previous chapter, we follow, step by step, the entire wizard to create our pictogram sheet with Picto Selector and configure the format of our first pictogram sheet.
To move pictograms to the sheet,we can use two actions: drag the pictogram by pressing the mouse on it or double-click on the pictogram. Either of the two options will insert the chosen pictogram in our sheet.
You can also see that the author provides us with other options that we have deactivated in the wizard. The border is one of these options that we can return to again from this window. If we activate it, the border will be assigned to this specific pictogram.
We can also change the graphic format of the pictogram by clicking on the Before Coloringtab. In this way, we have several options that can be very interesting: pictogram in negative, pictogram in grayscale, flipping and rotation of the pictogram. You can do tests to see how the appearance of the pictogram changes.
We can access all these options and many more, by placing the cursor on the pictograms and pressing the right mouse button. As we have already told you and we will repeat to you once again, the author duplicates the options on many occasions so that you can access them as quickly as possible.
Picto Selector orders the pictograms from left to right following the order of the rows and columns that we have established. On occasion, we want to change the position of the pictogram on the sheet. To do this we have two options: drag the pictogram with the mouse to the desired position and release it or we can select it and use the directional arrows to move it to the desired position, as you can see in the following screenshot.
If we want to remove any of the pictograms from our sheet,we just have to place ourselves on top and press the Delete key. If you look again at the previous capture, we can also use the Delete option by right-clicking on the pictogram. We can delete one by one or if we select several, we can delete them all at once.
We only have to Save our pictogram sheet so that the next time we open Picto Selector,it appears among the sheets that we already have saved. You will notice that our new sheet appears in the Sheets window with an asterisk * next to it. This means that it is not yet stored in the application.
We go to the upper right side and click on the Savebutton. Automatically, the asterisk disappears*. The asterisk appears when we create a new sheet of pictograms or when we make changes to one that we have saved and it warns us that the new or modified sheet has not been saved yet. This type of saving implies that the pictogram sheet is stored within the application itself and for the active user. If we want to save it on our device to open it in a different one or send it to someone else, we must follow the instructions in step 7. Export and Import pictogram sheets, which you will find below.
This window can also be used to preview the progress of our pictogram sheet. If we use it for this, we will only have to click on the Close button again and we will return to the edition of our sheet of pictograms.
\"Picto\" refers to pictograms, which are visual symbols that represent things, such as \"table,\" \"chair,\" and \"men's room.\" Pictograms convey meaning quickly and intuitively, and they're used in many areas, including design, transportation, and education. Picto Selector is a free tool that makes it easy to choose and create pictograms for any purpose. You can choose from thousands of free \"pictos\" and combine them by theme, style, or usage into picto sheets, or create new pictos from your own images and text. It offers print overlays for speech technologies, too. You can use it to create customized flash cards for teaching your kids how to read or design a pedestrian-friendly concourse for a new international airport with its symbols.
While that sounds involved, the whole process took mere minutes, and we could log on with our existing ID. Picto Selector downloaded more than 30,000 pictos (they're very small) to update our library. We finished with an up-to-date tool and a topped-off picto database.
After all that installing and updating, we were ready for a complicated tool, but we were pleasantly disappointed; with drag-and-drop capability and a pop-up Picto List to choose from, Picto Selector is not only extremely easy to use but fun, too. We clicked New Sheet to call up the program's template tool, quickly creating picture, text, and clock pictos; sclera pictos (white on black); and even way-cool timer pictos with analog or digital countdown displays using the Time Timer feature. Picto Selector has an Advanced User option that adds still more capabilities. If you're looking for pictos, try Picto Selector.

One of the great implementations of Picto Selector is that, every time we start the application, it connects with the main database and warns you of the new updates of the application and the new pictograms added, so that you can proceed to make the updates of both on your computer. In this way, Picto Selector will always be updated to the latest version and will contain all the pictograms updated to the current date.
Picto Selector is an application designed for easy selection and printing of pictos from websites such as Sclera.be, Straight-Street.com, and ARASAAC. The pictos are available in multiple languages and can be selected from a list and inserted between existing pictos.
Do you have a kid at home? Now as you might have heard that kids learn better through visuals. What Picto selector offers you is completely different but I can vouch for the utility of this program. Picto selector allows you to create visual support for your kid in the form of picto sheets and help him learn and grow. So in case you are a person who loves to get involved with kids, then Picto selector is a great application for you. In fact, it even eliminates the need of Word for creating visuals where you have to constantly edit, copy and paste the pictures to get the intended results. Try picto and you will see the difference.
Though Picto selector has a size of 185.96 MB, yet I would personally recommend this application. The use of visuals is quite appealing. You can devise out new ways and get creative to produce something that would be quite engaging for your kid. Try it out and you would love it!
I was able to use V&A images to create a lot of the symbols, alongside a free application called Picto-selector. Picto-Selector provides access to 28,000 images, all of which are either free or available for use under the Creative Commons license. All of these are credited at the back of the PECS book.
