if you guys are looking for a way to insulate the hot part of the extruder. I have used a product by Oatey the part number is #31400 the name is "Flame Protector"
this stuff is really cool if you hold on to the material for less than a minute it feels hot this is because it is reflecting you hands heat back at your hand the material is only 0.25" think and can handle 2500 degrees
the material is called "Zoltek Pyron" if you want to look it up

NOTE: you should NOT Insulate above the Nylon section that is 2" above the heater on the extruder. the reason is the nylon section is an insulator trying to keep the top half of the Extruder cool. if heat does creep up there as it runs you want this heat to be able to escape into the case as staying in the upper part of the extruder will cause problems.

That's exactly what I was looking for.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the employees at my local mega hardware store if they carried any of the portable wall protector / shields, for brazing copper pipes and they had no idea what I was talking about.

I just looked this up on my local mega hardware store's web site, and it says they have 3 of them in stock.

Yep... found it in my local HomeDepot. Not by the plumbing stuff... it is by the welding supplys.

This is the stuff I used on my Filabot and it has worked great. As I begin putting my extrusionbot together I plan to use it there as well.
