Virologist Beata Halassy one-upped Louis Pasteur for DIY medicine and
injected her own breast tumor with an experimental lab-grown virus and
cured herself of breast cancer. The experts predicatably say, "Don't try
this at home kids."

Here is a link to the paywalled Nature article.

If somebody with a subscription could email me the pdf off-list, I would
appreciate. :)

Lol. Awesome! She published her own case study as the primary investigator in a journal. I wonder if she tried submitting it to Nature Medicine or some higher tier journal and got rejected?
Anyway, good for her. She used a mixture of an attenuated measles virus strain that they use for vaccines and the Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV).  VSV is a disease of cattle. It can infect humans and cause flu like symptoms, but it has trouble replicating in human cells because of the interferon response. But the cells of many cancers don't have a functional interferon response, so VSV selectively kills cancer cells that don't make interferon. Very cool.
