Hi all,

I got 2023 Macbook pro M2 Max Vetura OS, then tried to run extempore (extempore-v0.8.9-macos-11.0.zi and Extempore-0.7.0-osx10.9.dmg ), but zsh shell returned "bad CPU type in executable" and extempore didn't run.

What a tragedy, I have to compile them ???

But I found a nice way to avoid it .

That is, I installed Rosetta2 by terminal command like this,
softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Oh great, extempore ran nicely, loading times were shortened to 1/2, and before, "Audio underflow: are you pushing extempore too hard?" and noisy or crackling sound often bothered me when using some many sound/play-note at same time, but now I never experienced them though sounding/using play-note functions 4 - 5 times more than before !!

Regards

George

Nice to hear it is all working better than before on your new shiny 2023 MacBook Pro!
My MacBook Air is an older 2020 model 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
so it does not require Rosetta2.
The extempore Get Info reveals that it a Unix Executable File.
I wonder if anyone has attempted recompiling for Apple silicon - or even if that is possible?
Don't know much about that kind of stuff.

Regards
George
