We operate in over 90 countries including 33 in Africa; our International
Secretariat is based in Oxford, with advocacy and campaigns offices in
Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, Brasilia and a Liaison Office
with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.

Background
Oxfam International is a confederation of non-governmental organizations
dedicated to fighting poverty and related injustice around the world. A
number of conflict affected countries in Africa face some of the most
challenging humanitarian situations in the world. Nowhere is real and

sustainable difference to the lives of millions in the continent.

The role

Oxfam International is looking for someone to lead our work around
enabling and supporting civil society organizations in Africa to engage
African Union policies organs and it?s member States on a variety of
issues. This aspect of our work has had much impact on the work of a range
of pan African alliances and NGOs currently engaging the African Union.
You will lead on this work within Oxfam International Liaison Office with
the African Union to coordinate our relationships with key alliances in
Africa.

The person

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience of
working with African CSOs and coalitions. You will have an excellent
understanding of civil society world. You will have excellent
interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in
English. In addition to a Bachelor Degree in political affairs,
international relations, law, or social sciences, you will have at least
three years of demonstrated experience of policy advocacy, as well as a
proven record of advocacy and communication experience in Africa. Sound
understanding and knowledge of, the African Union processes and the
working of African non-governmental organisations, multi-lateral
institutions and African states are essential. French language is strongly
desirable.
