[PROPOSAL] A public virtue act -- Any elected official found to be guilty of lying to the public shall be sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum of life without the possibility of parole. Furthermore, if any elected official shall be found to belong to a secret society or conspiracy not disclosed prior to their election, shall be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In either case, the person shall no longer be eligible for any position of public trust, whether elected or appointed.
The Congress can, optionally, establish a People's Court to deliver mercy to anyone convicted of a crime under this act, such that it is a democratic voice of all the people in the relevant State or District(s) defined by law. Mercy can include a complete pardon or a partial reprieve.
This act calls upon Congress to convene a Constitutional Amendment and fulfill its duty as defined in Article V.
Justice is a virtue. This act shall be known as the "Justice Amendment."
