I checked weather for Sept Iles. The average for the week we will be at the Magpie is Hi: 66 and Low: 50. So I think we'll need some warm clothes. Is Sept Iles a good place to check the weather for the Magpie?

Yes, that is the best estimate we can get.   -   Tom

Sept-iles is a few hundred feet to a thousand feet lower than where we are putting on the west branch. A topo map could give us the actual difference in elevation. Because we will be higher in elevation, we can assume that we will have slightly colder temps than in sept iles. It's gonna be chilly.

From what I can see on the topo map, it looks like the closest contour line from the river is at 1800 feet.  Sept-Iles, on the other hand is at 200 feet. Bring your wool socks.

So I will need to pack more than my speedo and toothbrush for this adventure?

Hank,

Just bring your fleece-speedo. That should do it.

Bill Nye (yes, the science guy) once told me that air cools at 5.38 °F per 1,000 Ft of elevation gain.  So we could expect something like Hi:  58   and Low 42  on the Magpie.

Bill also told me that fleece-speedos attract bears....so don't bring it.

Okay, let's plan to those temps. I am going to bring a bag liner for
extra warmth, but not much weight.

Are we meeting tonight at Great Falls....for packing boats? - Tom
