Are you passionate about crafting solutions to tackle climate change through behavioral interventions? We invite you to contribute to a pioneering initiative: the first many-designs project to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral interventions on the support of a carbon price measured by real-world metrics.

Project Overview:

In the “ManyDesignsCarbon” Metascience project, you are encouraged to independently or collaboratively (in teams of up to two members) design and propose experimental research addressing the critical question: “What is the impact of behavioral interventions on real-world support for a price of carbon?

This project aims to collate a diverse range of experimental designs from the academic community to

  • execute up to 42 distinct experiments via the online platform Prolific.

  • analyze the meta effect and identify the variation in design choices, outcome measures, and effects.

  • synthesize findings into a meta-science paper, crediting co-authorship to all participating researchers whose designs were implemented.

Eligibility Criteria:

To participate, at least one team member must hold a PhD in a relevant field with experience in conducting experiments. Additionally, each team should have undertaken at least one experimental study in the Social Sciences, either published, accepted for publication, or circulated as a working paper.

Contributor Benefits:

  • Co-authorship of a paper slated for submission to top-tier journals like Nature, Science, or PNAS.

  • Being part of a global community of researchers in a groundbreaking study on behavioral science for the climate.

  • Financial coverage for participant incentives for accepted proposals.

For more details and to sign-up, please visit our project webpage: https://manydesignscarbon.online.

We look forward to your innovative contributions and to advancing our understanding of effective strategies for increasing support for carbon pricing together.

Sincerely,

The Project Coordinators:

Esther Blanco, Armando Holzknecht, Jürgen Huber, Michael Kirchler, Rene Schwaiger
