Hi All -

I know this is an obvious one; but a global SEARCH feature is a needed
function. You know the use case ... edit some buried expense to tag
it or modify something OR attach a scanned image etc so that the
expense police dont have a COW. Comments or observations are
welcomed. So my question is when will this hit the radar if it's not
already there?

So we've definitely considered a search within the expenses dialog:
basically a "keyword filter" that only shows expenses containing that
keyword. That's planned but not in place yet.

But we haven't really put the foundation in place for a broader search
(eg, "show me all reports containing this keyword").

Is the "search outstanding expenses" feature we have planned adequate
for you, or do you need full multi-report search? Basically, what's
your dream search feature, versus what's good enough for now?

Yes, that makes sense. And yes, there's a "Comment" field on each
expense: just click the expense and it should be at the bottom of the
"Edit Expense" dialog that pops up. One very common use of the field is
to record who you had dinner with. Thanks!

David,

When the program presents the chart of account list, do you have to scroll
down and find the account you need, or does it hop there once you start
typing?

When QuickBooks butchered the credit card download program in version 2009,
this was a huge problem.
Some lists of choices are huge.

I also mentioned to Tom last night that many employees are trained to use
the account numbers, too.
This assures that they are grabbing the correct account.

Ah, great point. Right now you just pick from the list, but I agree
this becomes unworkable if you have more than a couple dozen accounts.
The auto-complete method (hop when you start typing) makes a lot of sense.

Incidentally, how many accounts do you typically have in the chart of
accounts?
