We're in the beginning stages of putting together our Prometheus
Newsletter for Spring 2009, slated for distribution on March 16th. The
newsletter is a great way to keep in touch with our contact base and let
them know, in a less formal way than an appeal, what we've been up to
these past months.
We are including articles on the following topics, but are certainly not
limited to these issues:
The NAB's Lawsuit of the FCC (over Encroachment)
HD Radio
Localism
Xm/Sirius Merger
Introducing Sakura
Introducing Interns (this round)
We also want to include updates from people working on the nationwide
Expand LPFM campaign.
Are you working to pass a City Council Resolution?
Are you involved in the campaign to expand LPFM? Tell us your story!
If anyone has suggestions or is willing to commit to writing an article,
I would greatly appreciate it. If you're generating ideas, the article could
include a review of a conference or event you recently attended (like
the historic Inauguration! I know someone wants to sign up for that one), or
news about anything coming up in the next few months that you think
community radio supporters nationwide should know about.
Of course, these are just suggestions; anything that's
related to community radio is great. Creative approaches to writing are
highly
encouraged, like haiku, comics and recipes (lunch club favorites with
electromagnetic naming potential, perhaps).
Articles should not exceed 1,500 words (or 5,000
characters). We'll do our best to incorporate all that we can, but
submitting an article does not guarantee we'll be able to print the
piece.
If you know anyone with an article or with material outside of basement,
please let me know and put me in contact with them as soon as you can.
We can work with them to incorporate their piece into the newsletter.
Please let them know that we are interested in constructive content;
artistic/social/political critique is welcome, but
please keep in mind that the aim of Prometheus is to strengthen community.
We will notify you when we receive your material. We will ask you if we
wish to make any significant edits to the content of the
article, but because of the deadline, we do reserve the right to make
changes for grammatical correctness and clarity. Thanks so much. We
look forward to receiving your material!
*Soft Deadline * February 13, 2009
Hard Deadlines * February 17, 2009*
The schedule for the newsletter is fast-paced, so please understand that
the deadlines are imperative. If your article is not in by February
17th, it won't be appear in the newsletter. There is a designated
calendar on gcal called "Newsletter" with all of the deadlines.
Thank you for your time and input,
Maggie (and Corey)
