Last week's LPFM Leadership Days were a HUGE sucess.

From April 22nd to April 24th, approximately 50 aspiring LPFM stations,
current stations, and community radio supporters from across the country
gathered in Washington D.C. On Wednesday, April 22nd, people met and
shared experiences with community radio and organizing. Later, the group
practiced lobbying in preparation for the follow day's visits to
Congressional offices.

On Thursday the group marched in front of the Capitol building
performing a street theater pieced entitled 'Corporate Media Vs.
Community Media.'

For the rest of the day, LPFM Leadership Days participants and community
radio advocates went on nearly 50 lobby visits to tell members of
Congress that "NOW!" is the time to pass the Local Community Radio Act
and expand access to the airwaves. Several members of Congress pledged
to co-sponsor the legislation!

Additionally, a policy briefing took place on Thursday, which featured
the Local Community Radio Act's co-sponsor Rep. Mike Doyle (D-PA) and a
panel of community radio members and supporters.

The next day the group met with the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) to discuss regulatory issues around the LPFM service. Later, the
group met with members of the Obama administration, where current and
aspiring community radio stations explained why low power radio was
important to their communities. The week wrapped up with a dance party
featuring Baltimore hip-hop artist Son of Nun.

There is a YouTube video detailing the week's events here:

The campaign to expand low power radio is moving forward. So far, 3 city
councils have passed resolutions in support of the legislation. If you'd
like to get involved in the Expand LPFM City Council Resolution campaign

While a lot of progress was made, there is still a lot of work to do. Go
to http://prometheusradio.org/take_action for updates and ways to get
involved--by contacting Congress, educating people about the value of
community radio, and organizing locally.
