*Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The Local Community Radio Act Will Be Voted on
in the
Senate Commerce Committee this Thursday!*
The Local Community Radio Act is fast-moving in Congress! Building off
of the unanimous passage out of the Energy & Commerce committee in the
House of Representatives, the Senate version of the legislation (SR 592)
will be moving forward this week. On Thursday, November 19 the Committee
on Commerce, Science, & Transportation will vote on the Local Community
Radio Act, taking an important step forward towards passage.
After ACTober's call to Action and the incredible efforts of people
like you, who reached out to their Congressional Representatives to tell
them to vote in support of the legislation, we have had unprecedented
movement on the Bill. The National Advisory Committee in the Campaign to
Expand LPFM has been designing Public Service Announcements and
spreading the word that now is the time to act for more local community
radio.
*So, what's next?*
We will be pushing through this winter & spring, working to advance this
legislation towards passage. After successfully moving out of the Senate
Commerce Committee, the Local Community Radio Act only needs House and
Senate Floor votes and then will have to be signed by the President.
With passage of this legislation, there will be opportunities for
hundreds, potentially thousands more local community radio stations
across the country. /Help us win this important victory for community
media! For more information on the campaign and to sign up for email
