Kumar Raj a Master Mariner by profession , has done his Management from Cambridge U.K and is into Film Production & Direction through his extreme passion and love for Cinema. He has completed Diploma in Direction from Digital Academy in Mumbai and Diploma in production from ZIMA (Zee Institute of Media Arts) before commencing his career in Film Industry. He has made & released 4 feature films.

He executed a variety of responsibilities and performed a myriad of kitchen duties before deciding to attend formal training. Combining his love for nature and food, he moved to Asheville, NC and began attending Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. During his coursework, he had the honor of obtaining an internship at Magnolias located in Charleston, SC, where he studied directly under Chef Kelly Franz. Here he was able to combine his Southern style with the copious amount of French techniques learned from his formal training. His true passion, however, is in the art of smoked meats. While studying under some of the most experienced chefs in the industry, he was able to spend a considerable amount of time as a pitmaster. After graduation in 2014, he held positions at several high-volume scratch kitchens including Packs Tavern and the original Tupelo Honey both located in Asheville.

Returning to Charleston in 2018, Walker has not only played an integral role in the opening of several new restaurants, but he also had the opportunity to plan, prepare, and serve from a food truck for large events such as birthdays and weddings. After joining the team at Saltwater Cowboys as Sous Chef, he was transferred and promoted to Executive Chef. Recently, Walker has coupled his passion, knowledge, and love of food to the next level by undertaking his dream of operating his own food truck based out of James Island, South Carolina.

The Griffin family loves candles and has always had a passion for them. They decided to start making them as a hobby, but it turned into so much more. Pretty soon, the whole family got involved, with their son, Stefaun learning how to make candles as well. Tara and Charles have used their candle making journey to teach valuable life lessons to their son, such as practicing safety around fire and heat and the art and science of making things. Their vision as makers is based on making scents that will create memories or spark old memories.

I started off my career journey as a 6th grade Reading/Language Arts teacher. When my partner and I left Minnesota for a small town in Illinois, I found myself doing some reflection about what my next steps would be. I realized I still wanted to work with students and also support the field of teaching. Illinois State University had an opening for an English Education advisor and that is where my journey and initial love of advising started.

I am excited for the conversations I will have with students. SF State students are passionate and in my previous positions have loved hearing about how they are making the most of their time. I remember one student conversation in particular where the student expressed how inspiring her grant writing class was here that she actually started her own non-profit from it.

I always loved math and grew passionate about education equity. After college, I got an opportunity to teach math at a Brooklyn charter school where over 90 percent of the students and 75 percent of the teachers were people of color. I saw the unique interactions between the students and the teachers and the role of culture and race in teacher and student experiences. I saw teachers leverage their backgrounds to help their students, to provide an inclusive environment and give them the best chance to succeed, and that inspired me.

In April of 2018, shortly after settling into our new home, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. My diagnosis turned our world upside down. I had a double mastectomy, reconstruction, and 16 rounds of chemo all while balancing life with
a one-year old and a deployed husband. My journey with cancer has taught me to look at life with a new perspective. With the support of my family, I reevaluated what I wanted to do with my career. A certified teacher, I knew teaching was not my true passion.

With her perseverance and dedication towards making her city a better place, she was elected mayor when she 25 years old. Her powerful leadership skills, passion for positive change and ultimate love for her city have made her a remarkably influential figure for youth.
