2Similar to the arrangements in 2021 and 2022, Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 students in primary schools and MOE Kindergartens will report on the first day of school on 3 Jan 2023. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 students will report to school on 4 Jan 2023.
3. While this move was introduced as part of measures to safeguard the well-being of the school community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the arrangements have worked well in helping the younger students ease into their new school environment on the first school day, and will continue to be in place moving forward.
Besides encouraging the child to use theirimagination, the teachers at the British Council also requested the children tobring their toys! Wow! Can you imagine Alexis jumping into the car delightfullyplanning about the toys to bring for her lessons? The reason for bringing thetoys was for a show and tell. Each child was supposed to hide the toy ina bag and describe the toy that they brought to their classmates.
Everyone in class would ask questions pertaining to the toy and try to uncover what it was. How I wish I could be there to witness all these but the British Council is rather strict with photo-taking in the class. This is to protect the privacy and safety of the students and staff. I am happy to share that despite me seeking their permission of a photo to share on my blog, the school politely rejected. This shows that they valued the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the centre more than just wanting to gain publicity. Kudos to the management of British Council for that!
We are in the last term of 2020 and since I am preparing Lauren for PSLE next year, I tried to get a little ambitious with Alexis. I bought some P1 assessment books and I am truly surprised that she was able to understand most of the questions in the assessment book! Reading the comprehension was a breeze for her too.
Monitoring the seats left daily since 2nd July (Phase 1), counting my chance. There were 37 seats left for phase 2B in Rosyth. I had many sleepless nights. Kelvin told me to relax as we had done all we could. Easier said than done, I called MOE up to check on what other options I have if my Plan A fails. I decided that if we cannot get a seat at phase 2B for Rosyth, we will not try phase 2C as it is crazy. Not lucky at 2B, I guess will be even harder to be lucky at 2C. We will try Paya Lebar Methodist Girls for 2C if we fail to secure a seat at Rosyth.

I called Rosyth the next morning and was informed that Lauren secured a seat without the need to ballot!!! I screamed with joy and the teacher who informed me laughed it off. I immediately sat down and cried. It was tears of relief and joy.. My concerned colleague thought I did not manage to secure a seat. LOL. So drama..
I called Kelvin to share the good news. We are both very thankful as we know how lucky we were. That evening, we shared the news with Lauren. She was ecstatic. We told her Papa and Mummy tried our best to help her into Rosyth, it will be up to her now to help herself. Fighting Lauren!!! We believe in you.
