No this isn't some horror story from a children's book but instead a general invite to do an exlks hike with Katie and Charlie Potter while they are in the northwest visiting.
Date: Monday Aug 18
Micki and I are planning on joining them for the
Chain Lakes Loop Hike near Mount Baker. This has to be about the best day hike possible in Washington with mountains, lakes, and vistas at your fingertips. We try to do it every year and bring out-of-towners there to show them what they are missing in WA.
From
WTA site: This gorgeous loop hike has it all: big views of Mounts Baker and Shuksan, as well as the North Cascades, alpine lakes for swimming, and well-maintained trail winding through meadows and heather. And with wildflowers in spring, blueberry bushes for trail-side snacking in late summer and blazing color in the fall, you can't pick a bad season to visit.
The plan would be to skip the road-adjacent Wild Goose section by starting at Artist Point and hiking clockwise. Once we get back to the main road at 5.3 miles we would carpool drivers back to the top instead of hiking the 1100 feet up next to the road.
If you are interested in joining us and perhaps carpooling, please shoot me an email. It's a long drive up there so carpooling is highly recommended but the drive is worth it in the end. Details to follow for those interested.
