Well, the snow is still present, but is it playable tomorrow?

Who is willing to try?

Maybe bring shovels and clear up an area for at least boot or hotbox?

Please respond to all so folks know what to expect.

See you at the Field of Dreams also known as Elwell Field @ 10:00

You can park in the large parking lot at Haverford College and then walk across the trail briefly through the woods and onto the Field of Dreams.

If anyone is brave/crazy enough to make it out there, take pictures! The shoveling will definitely warm you up.

I'm actually grateful that I had a 9am indoor game. (You all know how bad I am at Saturday mornings 😴)

Ming,
Why weren't we invited to the indoor game? I tried to get a gym for us, but all my sources fell through.
My daughter and I played 1-on-1 ice hockey on the pond at Greer park. We should have brought a disc to say we had played Ultimate on skates!

The CREC (next to the turf on Parkview) rents their basketball court to residents - full for 110/hr. 1/2 for 75/hr.  I'm actually not sure if the 'full' is both of the basketball courts together and 1/2 means one full court? But it should be reasonable if we get a bunch of people and implement standard indoor hockey subbing and no pulls for whatever time interval we decide. PADA plays 1 hr indoor games with 15 minute quarters (13 minutes of play + 2 minutes quarter 'half times') There's one pull to start each quarter. After that each score the defensive team picks it up and is on offense. Hockey style subbing so there's constant play....

I would play at the CREC for icy days when we don't have access to a field...

Good to know. Who’s a resident? And “resident” of what entity?  How full are the gyms? Might we have been able to reserve one yesterday if we started the process earlier in the week? Or are they booked up months in advance?

I called this morning but haven't heard back yet from the main person who can answer.

I'll update the group when I hear, and the delay should also allow a clearer picture of the weather for this weekend.

I have seen Ming around the Phield House in the same women matching PADA indoor league thats going on now Saturday mornings. Ming i play you next week! Lol.

The Elkins Park group has rented a SoFive location a few times recently and people split the cost. Its a soccer and sports center and the indoor field was not sure the total cost or availability but was a nice location and decent field to play on.

It seems that the CREC is booked on Saturday's 9am - 7pm for awhile.

Snow is softening with the warmer temps. Prediction is 36 degrees by 10:15 AM Saturday. We should be fine outside.

Another idea I had was the artificial turf at St. Joe's U. They cleared it. Sometimes they are fussy about who's using it. I have a gym membership there, if that counts for anything.

Keith, do you know if the St Joes turf is cleared?

Either way, I think we should opt for the turf over either featherbed or dreams. If a group were to stomp down the snow at either location, perhaps turf would be less slippery and muddy?

I just stopped by the field of dreams, and there hasn’t been any noteworthy melt yet. I personally would opt out of a game on that surface, though that shouldn't necessarily sway anyone else

Yes! The SJU turf field has been cleared (see photo).

Also, I was out skiing at Friends Central Lower School grounds tonight. That field has had hundreds of kids stomping around on it over the past two weeks. So, that field or another grade school field like that might lend itself to playing this weekend.

I thought we had luck at the turf at the CREC winters past. I don't think it's cleared but it will melt faster there being turf...

The turf at CREC has been mostly occupied the last 2 winters. Do we know anything about if it has been cleared?
