Has anyone recently noticed significant delays
or lost postings?

I've noticed a longer then usual delay on posts. I thought I was the only
one with lost posting problems, I guess not. Of course there's no notice of
any server problems on the System Notices page.

I am in total agreement with your sentiments. Their system
notices web page has never measured up to the fine job the former
ExecPC system administrators did by making complete, timely
and _honest_ postings to execpc.info but that should be a topic
of another thread <sigh>.

I have made two postings to comp.dcom.nortel and comp.dcom.tech
that never made it out to the world nor have they appeared on the
CoreComm news servers. The first attempt was made on 14-Jul-02.
Nothing. The second was made on 15-Jul-02 (repost). Again notthing.

It was great when the amazing Joe Greco was in charge. I always
appreciated how he paid such close attention to the news servers
and to the postings made to either the execpc.general or milw.general
newsgroups. Alas, this is yet another topic for those of us who lament
the good old days <grin>.

If anyone has an answer for the lost postings, or if any observes a notice
that states that this problem is fixed, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

pdp

Hi Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I was lamenting the lack of frequent and helpful participation of
Joe Greco and the other great ExecPC members such as Dave Cowen,
Michael Mittelstadt, Curt Shambeau, Greg Ryan and Bob Mahoney.

Even with the non-stop explosion of their Internet operations over the
many years (starting back in 1994), they all seemed to take the time
to actively monitor and participate in the local USENET groups.
Their individual and combined contributions were highly appreciated
by myself and many of their active, and concerned, subscribers.
To their credit, they continued to participate even under adverse
conditions (Joe in particular).

PS. Has anyone found any problems with the news servers
or is it just my imagination that I lost postings the past
couple days?

It's nice to know our efforts did not go unnoticed. Thanks!

I'm kind of disapointed my name was not mentioned! (Yeah, I am still
here.. stalking you all..) If it wasn't for me, all you users who now
claim that everyone mentioned above is a God, would have overrun the
newsgroup with mindless babbling and accusations..

Its fun seeing people who 5-6 years ago were saying the above were idiots,
now admitting they weren't too bad, if even good!

Let me explain to everyone why service at the ISP level sucks.. its
because customers are assholes.. and by being assholes, even when they
didn't need to, they drove out all the people who really gave a shit about
customer service, and actually knew what the hell they were doing.

I am _SO_ glad I got out of the ISP business.. Working day in and day out
with stupid people who would rather swear at you than even THINK about
what you are telling them to do, is just too much to ask anyone to do..

Anyways, I can't rant.. Must control myself!
