Dear All,

Greetings of the day !!!

How many of you believe that Alumni relations are important for institutes, colleges and Universities.

Why is it that most if the colleges and universities in India do not give much importance to Alumni Relations as it gives to Placements and other activities.

Would like to get the views from all of you about Alumni and any activities specific for Alumni Relations.

1.       Research Grants

2.       Industrial Inputs

3.       Summer Training and Final Placement

IIMs Alumni is another example.

Hi,

Its simple. A study says that only 3% of Alumni will bring in new admissions to an institute or college or University. Whereas placement track bring in 77% of new admission. 

Now, on a layman point of view whether 3% or 77% admissions?

Hi,

This a topic that needs a serious consideration.

An university or college does well in placements only if that gets Alumni support but due to want of time and lack of coordination it is not well organised or not at all organised.

It must be review on media and it should be reviewed so that the top management understands its need and will work for it.

Dear All,

Alumni is of great value to a particular college and the college should also remain in touch with their alumni's whereas it should help in developing good Alumni Relations.

When a student passes out from a college and enters into a professional world, he/she takes approximately 7/10 years or may be more to come into a position when he/she can add value to the Placement activity of that particular college.

In this present world of competitiveness Placement contributes max. to the admission of the college, needless to define the figure into percentage.
