When Teachers Inspire, Nations Rise
“Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.”
Anand Mahindra recently shared a delightful video of young dancer Barkat Arora performing with infectious joy. But what stood out was his tribute to the guru behind her—demonstrating, guiding, and inspiring her to rise higher with every step.
It echoed William A. Ward’s timeless insight:
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
Yet at a time when such inspiring teachers are needed the most, the world faces a growing teacher shortage. Many are leaving the profession, and fewer are entering it.
To change this, we must build an ecosystem that truly values educators:
· Competitive and fair compensation
· Reduced administrative workload
· Strong professional development pathways
· Supportive, empowering leadership
· Mental health and well-being programs
· Community respect and recognition
· Technology that simplifies, not complicates
· Mentorship for new teachers
· Flexible and sustainable work arrangements
A society that honours teachers protects its own future.
If we want every child to meet a teacher who inspires, we must create conditions where teachers can thrive—not just survive.
Let’s commit to building a world where teaching is not only respected, but deeply supported.
