Culture Night Exhibition

Hi all, I just sent the following through Facebook, but might have missed one of two of you.

Hi Focus friends!

Dublin Culture Night is on on the 21^st of September and it’d be great if we could get an exhibition organised for it. It’d be really good if we could be more organised than the Photo Ireland exhibition, so here’s a plan of how we can make it happen more smoothly. We have over 7 weeks from now, so we’ve loads of time!

-First off, we need to ask Exchange if we can book the gallery space. I should be able to make it to their Wednesday meeting next week. I’m going to see if we can book it from Thursday the 20^th September (this will let us hang the exhibition the day before Culture Night). I’ll see how long we can have the exhibition up for as well.

- At our next meeting, Monday 6^th of Aug, we should discuss ideas for themes. We should try and keep in contact via internet before our next meeting regarding this.

- At the Monday 20^th of Aug meeting, have a theme decided. This gives us about 4 weeks to take photos and get them printed and mounted/framed, ready for the exhibition.

-At the Monday 3^rd of September meeting we should:

·         Know who will be exhibiting

·         Bring along images on USB, that we are thinking of putting into the exhibition, we can help each other decide what to put in. Keep in contact over internet regarding this before next meeting.

·         Discuss who can be around to prepare the space – cleaning walls, sweeping floors etc

·         Discuss what tools we need to hang the exhibition with and who is going being them and who who is going to hang the pieces

·         Decide who is going to write the blurb, the list of exhibiting peoples’ names & contact info and labels

·         Nominate one person to print out the above. We should also think about ways of mouting these.

·         Discuss ways of promoting the exhibition, nominate someone to make a Facebook page, decide if we want to make a poster for the window, who’s going to do it? Nominate someone to contact  VAI and Phantom or other organisations that list events for free.

Keep in contact over internet and have these things decided by our next meeting, Mon 17th September.

-At the Monday 17^th September meeting (four days before opening) everyone should bring their prints for the exhibition. At this meeting we should discuss what pieces should go where.

-We should aim to hang the exhibition on the evening of Thursday the 20^th September.
