I am using MS Excel 2010 (14.0.5128.5000 - 32-bit).  I have downloaded the ExcelDna distribution and wanted to test the Ribbon capability.  I copied ExcelDna.Integration.dll and ExcelDna.xll (renamed as TestRibbon.xll) in the Samples\Ribbon folder.  I then opened TestRibbon.xll.  Excel opens but I see no ribbon from TestRibbon.dna (should be called "My Tab" with a group called "My Sample Group").  I selected COM Add-ins from the Developer menu to see if it was loaded and it says it was.  The function AddThem is available (and it is not available if I run Excel alone).

Any ideas?

Hi David,

I think that the TestRibbon example had separate sections for Excel
2007 and Excel 2010, and that the section for Excel 2010 is basically
empty. (I thought I improved it for the release of v. 0.29, but can't
check right now.)

You might like to have a closer look inside the .dna file, and take
out the section marked for Excel 2010. Then it will load the Excel
2007 tab, which has a button or two.

Thank you.  That did it.  I can't believe I missed that.

I appreciate your help.

If anyone else is looking at this thread and still can't figure it out...

I was having the same problem and it turns out that in Excel 2007 (may apply to other versions) if a Ribbon at some point causes Excel to crash, all custom Ribbons will be disabled in the future.  To re-enable custom ribbons, I had to go to Excel Options => Add-Ins => Manage: Disabled Items Go... => Click on the "ribbonhelper" item and click Enable.  What a pain!
