Hi together,
we have a Problem on our old installations of our Excel Application.
That is our configuration in the past and it is running.
It is also running by the most of our customers.
We use Excel-DNA for our Excel AddIn
We use a globalsign certificate that is already installed and valid and under the trusted vendors in excel options.
What we already have tried out:
we have wrote the networkfolder to the trusted folders under excel option with subfolders and checked "allow trusted folders under network".

Since a view Days on two of out customers we got the Error like "Fileformat or Fileextension is worng" if we try to start our Mod.xll over network.
if we copy the folder from network to local all works fine.

The Excel Version is 365, newest update 32 bit.
the customer with 64 bit version seems to have no problems.

It looks like a Excelupdate Topic.
But on one of the customers we can start the xll from one networkpath (prod env.) but not from a other networkpath (test env.)

Someone an idea what we can do our what we can check to bring the AddIn to fly again?

Katja

This message really sounds like it is probably related to the 32-bit vs 64-bit issue.

You will have different .xll files for 32-bit and 64-bit Excel.

In your add-in output directory there will be xxx-Addin-packed.xll for 32-bit and xxx-AddIn64-packed.xll for 64-bit.

I suggest you check again what the Excel version is and check that the matching .xll file is being loaded.

Also, to see what the message is when you get the bitness wrong, you can try to load the ‘wrong’ bitness add-in on your machine and see the message.

But you say it is fixed if you copy the same file locally and run from there instead of the network.

If this is right, I can only imagine something is blocking the file from opening.

This might give the same message in Excel, and might be security software or Office Trust Center settings.

Maybe you can look for a log of the security / anti-virus software?

Already checked, nothing found.

Yes we have. The 64 Bit version (other customers) is still running.

we found a soultion for that.

it was random that the 64 is still running.

In the case that someone will have an identical Error:
It is possible that the Error is fixed if you set the .xll files to write protected.
In our case it works.
