Hi,

I've just downloaded Excel-Dna and trying to run the sample xll file.
When I do that I get an error message "The file you are trying to open
is in a different format than specified by the file extension...".

I use Excel 2010.

Is it a known issue? is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Shay.

Hi Shay,

You are probably running the 64-bit version of Excel 2010, which is
not supported by Excel-Dna yet.
Note that the 32-bit version of Excel can be installed on the 64-bit
Windows 7, and is in fact the default install even on 64-bit operating
system.

I'm hoping to add support for 64-bit Excel next year.

Regards,
Govert

Shay,

.xll files are Add-Ins that add additional functionality to Excel in the form of native Excel functions and do not open in the same way as regular spreadsheets.

I only have Excel 2007 but 2010 should be similar. Click on the Office icon in the top right hand corner
-> Excel Options
-> Add-Ins
-> Manage: Excel Add-ins - Go...

Browse for the .xll file.

Regards,
-Tjaart
