Hello all,
I just upgraded to the July 2026 version of Visual Studio (v18.8.2) and now I get this... several semi-cryptic error messages and an inability to set my Target Framework.  The dropdown list looks OK, but when I select .NET framework 4.8.1 the field stays blank.  Has anyone else seen this or can you suggest how to overcome this?
Thanks ever so much.

Is this with an SDK-style .vbproj project file?
If so, it might be that the Visual Studio project editing view doesn’t quite understand the .NET Framework “TargetFramework”.
That would be a VIsaul Studio bug, and you should report it to them.

But if you edit and show the .vbproj file, it should still look right, build right and is the better place to edit the project settings.

It was a corrupt installation.  Uninstalled all and re-installed VS 2026 - July Update to find the problem has disappeared.  Thank goodness.
Thanks, Govert.
