Hello, I udpated to the latest version and am no longer able to use it. Uninstall/reinstall/reboot doesnt help.
My Excel is the 64 bit version, none of the troubleshooting ideas seem to help.
My automations no longer work, please provide support.
Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with our software.

Can you first ensure it is completely uninstalled, by using the Windows Add/Remove programs screen.

Then download these two files to any folder on your PC:

Then run the  ExcelPriceFeedSetup64.exe file and this should install the software.

Alternatively, you can download the actual Add-in file and use the Add-ins dialog in Excel to add it manually:

Please let me know if this works.

Kind Regards,

Hi Andy
Per my previous message, reinstalling yet again per your instructions above didn't change anything.
I noticed that my second computer running 1.123 of your addin doesn't work either but isn't crashing:
Computer 1: running 1.128, formulae show as #NUM! or #VALUE!, Excel prompts to disable the addin
Computer 1: running 1.123, formulae show as #NUM! or #VALUE!, Excel doesn't report issues with the addin
Best regards
Tim

Hi Tim,

Apologies for the delay, we have been running with a reduced team due to the holiday season.

With respect to v1.123, this version will not work now as it does handle recent changes that Yahoo Finance have implemented, so the #NUM and #VALUE errors are not surprising.

However, I am still at a loss as to understand how the latest version is not working for you. Have you tried to start with a fresh spreadsheet and try one simple formula, such as =EPF.Yahoo.Price("AAPL")

I can only think that the reason Excel is prompting to disable the Add-in is that it is struggling/hanging whilst refreshing a large spreadsheet, or a spreadsheet with one or more volatile functions (see: https://blog.excelpricefeed.com/2020/07/08/volatile-excel-functions/).

We do not have any other users reporting issues with this version.

Please let me know how the test with a simple formula goes, and if you can see anything in your spreadsheet that might be causing a performance issue.

Kind Regards,

Hi Tim,

In response to your email:

Thinking about how my setup might differ from your other users, I live in France, so connected via a UK IP address and it now works.
Do you (or yahoo) have some form of regional blocking in place?

There is no regional blocking in place.

On Saturday another user reported that when they used a VPN the Add-in was causing Excel to crash, but was working fine if the VPN was turned off.

I have tried with my VPN software both on and off and see no difference in operation, I've tried various endpoints including France and it works fine.

As it stands I am not sure how else I can help, I can't replicate the problem and from my research can't see what could be causing an issue for you. You can either continue to use a UK VPN, or we can cancel your subscription.

Kind Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy

I continued troubleshooting and found
- Excel with the addin reliably hangs/crashes on startup unless there is an active VPN (any country).
- This isn't related to any document, it's simply that Excel won't start with the addin unless there is an active VPN.

I've always used a load balancing router, is there perhaps something in the latest update that might have issues if traffic can be routed via two IP addresses?

Additionally, the formulae have become very slow and unreliable since the December update. This doesnt seem to be related to the VPN issue other than also coinciding with the recent update. I've worked around that by getting information from EODHD instead via a monthly subscription.

Prior to the recent updates everything ran perfectly. I'm happy to try more things and would prefer to keep using your addin, but if these issues are going to be hard to solve then a refund of the remaining half year would be a possible solution.

Best regards
Tim

I am getting #NUM! as the intermittent result of function =EPF.Yahoo.Name. I am also getting #NUM! as the intermittent result of function =EPF.Yahoo.AnnualEarnings. I expect if I look around some more, I will find more of these.

When will you be correcting?

Hi Tim,

Thanks for that information.

We have just released a new version which handles crashes on startup and writes to the error log any errors encountered during startup.

Could you update your Add-in, instructions here: https://www.excelpricefeed.com/userguide/add-in-updates)
and send me details of the error log (on the ExcelPriceFeed tab, Help->Show Error Log). I hope this will help work out what is happening.

This version won't fix the underlying problem(s) but will hopefully give us some clues as to what is going wrong.

Kind Regards,

Andy
