Lungs, tracheae, and spiracles in spiders. Orthognatha species possess two pairs of book lungs lying directly behind the thorax. In Dysdera, tracheal spiracles are situated just behind the lungs, which are markedly reduced. In most Araneae, for example, wolf spiders or garden spiders and also shown in the spider in the middle of the figure, two lungs and a tracheal system with four simple tube tracheae are realised. In Misumena, for example, crab spiders, tracheae are restricted to the pleon. In Argyroneta, for example, water spider, lungs are completely reduced and tracheae fill the entire body. In Nops only tracheae exist, while in Pholcus only one pair of lungs is realised. In jumping spiders, shown for Salticus and Euophrys, the secondary tracheae reach into the thorax. Two electron micrographs show sections through the thorax with tracheae in the gut epithelium (Gu) and the nervous system (NS). 2022 Garden Plot holders will have first right of refusal to their current garden plot. They may choose one plot from 2022 to renew for the 2023 gardening year. Parks and Recreation staff will be reaching out to current gardeners in January of 2023 to begin this renewal process.

If plots are available after the renewal period for current gardeners, new gardeners (those that did not have a plot in 2022) will be able to register for available plots online beginning February 20. We anticipate roughly 25-40 plots being available at this time.

The City of Wilsonville offers community garden plots to its residents. The garden has 134 in-ground plots, 21 raised beds, on-site water, a compost area, and is protected by a deer fence. The Community Garden is located in Memorial Park.

As part of implementation of the recent Memorial Park Master Plan, the Community Garden underwent a renovation, completed Spring of 2016. Previously, the garden was split into two sections and had a total of 99 in-ground plots and 15 raised beds. While the east section had ample sunlight, many plots in the west section experienced a considerable amount of shade during the day. In an effort to enhance growing conditions and increase the number of gardening opportunities for everyone, all garden plots were moved to the east side and additional in-ground and raised bed plots were added. The new garden has a total of 134 9'x10' in-ground plots and 21 4'x8' raised beds. The raised beds have varying heights of 30", 24" or 18" to accommodate ADA requirements for children and adults.

The final regulations require residential, multi-family, and commercial units to divert organic waste from landfills by tossing unused food, such as eggshells, banana peels, and apple cores, as well as garden trimmings, lawn clippings and leaves in an organics cart, which will be collected on your normal collection day.

Compost and other products from recycled organic wastes are valuable to farmers, schools, community gardeners and many others in the agriculture and landscape industry. These products return nutrients to the soil, conserve water, reduce run-off, and help plants grow. By recycling food and landscape waste, residents and business owners are contributing to a greener, healthier California.

Organic waste includes all food scraps, including cooked meat, fish, poultry, bones, fruits, vegetables, bread, pasta, rice, and grains; food-soiled paper, such as pizza boxes, coffee filters, wet paper towels, and soiled napkins; and yard waste, including grass, leaves, small branches, plants, weeds, and garden trimmings. View the What Goes Where guide to find out what goes in each cart.

At that time, Ta'if was about two or three days' journey from Mecca. The climate of the city was relatively more pleasant than that of Mecca,[10] and it was full of fertile gardens and orchards. It lies on the slopes of the higher and cooler mountains on the way to Yemen. The hills used to be visited by the higher classes and dignitaries of Mecca to spend their summer months. Three brothers of the Banu Thaqif, namely Habib, Mas'ud and Abd Yalayl were the main chiefs and leaders of the city at that time.[11]

Muhammad then took refuge in an orchard outside the city. The owners, Shayba and Utba ibn Rabi'a from the Meccan tribe of Shams, were in the garden at the time and took pity on him. They sent their slave Addas, a Christian, to give him a plate of grapes.[14] Muhammad accepted the gift and ate it, reciting "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah).[15] The young slave then reportedly said that he had never heard those words spoken since he left his town. Muhammad then asked him where he was from, and he replied that he was from Nineveh. Addas then asked who he was and if he knew about Jonah. Muhammad replied, "He is my brother; he was a prophet of Allah, and I am also a prophet of Allah." Addas was said to have then kissed his head, hands, and feet. On his return, Addas was scolded by his two masters who witnessed the occurrence, to which Addas reportedly replied, "There is no better man in this land than him; he has told me things that only a prophet can know."[16]

In a study in rats, those that ate garden cress had significantly reduced levels of fasting blood sugar and insulin resistance, compared with a control group. Both of these indicators suggest improved diabetes control (25).

Another test-tube study in liver cancer cells showed that garden cress extract significantly suppressed gene expression, thereby reducing tumor growth. The more potent the concentration of garden cress extract, the more toxic it was to liver cancer cells (29).

Spotted garden eels are widely distributed from the Indo-Pacific and northwestern Australia to the Red Sea and East Africa and are found in waters as deep as 150 feet. Colonies are usually found on sandy flats and slopes bordering coral reefs, sometimes living among seagrass for extra camouflage.

Garden eels will generally only leave their original burrows to move closer to mates during spawning season. If two males end up too close to one another, they may fight over territory and nearby females. While mating, garden eels entwine their upper halves together, their tails remaining in their individual burrows. Two eels can stay this way for hours during a single mating event. Garden eels are pelagic spawners; they release fertilized eggs into the open water, which then float near the surface with the current. When the eggs hatch, the juvenile garden eels swim freely until they grow large enough to create their own burrows.
