Hi guys
Here is a piece of news for all of you. As an alumni of JIIT we should
take this up. Its our responsibility.
A 3rd year electronics student, Rahul Dhamija, at the Jaypee Institute
of Information Technology, Noida, India (http://bit.ly/jiitnoida) died
today evening (August 17, 2010) when bare wires inside the campus
electrocuted him. The student was alive, but unconscious after the
electrocution, and other students waited a long time for the ambulance
to respond but no medical personnel came to give him first aid.
That's when two senior students who had vehicles in-campus decided to
take the victim in car to the nearby Fortis hospital. But on their way
out of the campus, they were stopped by the security guards since
going outside campus in the after-hours (10 PM) is against the college
rules.
The senior students and witnesses nearby protested saying that the
student was in dire need of medical help and needed to be taken to the
nearby hospital, but the guards refused to budge. The hostel warden,
and the dean of the physics faculty Mr. Anirban Pathak was called
immediately who re-iterated the security guards' statement saying that
they should not and would not be allowed to leave the campus and
action would be taken if they failed to do so.
This finally led to the death of the student who was not administered
required medical help on time.
Students and witnessed inside the campus have been strictly advised to
hush up the incident and that the media and news agencies standing
outside the campus for more information should not be talked to.
Internet access for the students too has been shut down. Access to all
social media and public forums have been blocked for student access.
THIS IS A CLEAR CASE OF THE MANAGEMENT TRYING TO HUSH UP AND DISTORT
THE MATTER AND THE FACTS AND IS A VIOLATION OF THE RIGHT TO SPEECH
UNDER THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION.
