By default, Ubuntu comes with Banshee in the Sound-Indicator that is
located in the Top-panel.

Can I put Exaile as the app that the sound-indicator incorporates? How
do I do this?

There is no official support for that menu at this time, but there's
an unsupported plugin that can be found in the comments on this
feature request: https://bugs.launchpad.net/exaile/+bug/588858

To install it, download the source[1] archive, extract the folder
within and place it in ~/.local/share/exaile/plugins/, then restart
exaile and it'll be available in your plugin list.

do you know if the Exaile developers plan to add Sound-Indicator
support? I'm kinda surprised they haven't added this feature yet
considering it's been almost a year since ubuntu 10.10 was released.

None of the Exaile core developers use Ubuntu as their primary, hence
it hasn't been a huge priority for us. However there are tentative
plans to support the core parts of MPRIS2, the api necessary for
ubuntu's applet, in the future.

What OS do Exaile core developers mostly use as their primary? I'd
like to check it out :)

Personally I use use Arch Linux and I know at least one other does
too, one uses FreeBSD, and I don't really keep track of the others
specifically, but I think Debian and Gentoo maybe?
