Hi all,

Could someone provide me a simple example of using exaBGP sa a Route Reflector? I cannot find one, or to be more precise I can't even find that someone mentioned this kind of usage. Are there any special considerations which we should take into account before testing this capability?

On first look exaBGP seems to be primarly designed as a route injector, so if it will potentialy has some issues functioning as a Route Reflector please could you be kind and give me some advices.

Any feedback is welcome, especialy concrete technical/configurational.

Kind regards,
A.

The code to do it is not yet written for this role I would advise you to
look BIRD http://bird.network.cz.

Hi Thomas, thank you for fast response,

Is it too complex to add this feature in your existing code? RR functionality doesn't seem something other than re-announcing route to RR-client peers (maybe I'm missing something).

ExaBGP is interesting to us because of flexibility of adding new address families, for example bird doesn't support af-l2vpn-vpls.

Regards,
A.

I want to do it but it require some brand new code for the RIB storage
and redistribution which does not exist.
This would be a separate application ( using the process API ), nothing
very hard but it would take more than I can give to the project.
Futhermore there is no CLI for ExaBGP and a RR would need one, so this
is first ( and is next ).

Thank you for taking time answering me and thanks for all great ExaBGP work.
Maybe someone from ExaBGP community finds interest in developing this feature/app. (I wish I could help, but my python skills are not at that level)

Regards,
A
