Howto change highlighting of word under cursor

Hi,
How do I change the highlighting of the word under cursor?
I tried:
hi exSynHLTemp guibg=LightRed
in my .vimrc and in
function g:ex_CustomHighlight()
no help ...

I think it should be
ex_SynHLTemp
