For those ex-Joyent folks who have a free lifetime sub on
Strongspace......

As I recall, we received Expandrive 2 (a nice SFTP client that
the Strongspace folks sell) for free. However, Expandrive 3
is a paid upgrade.

Has anyone asked those folks if we can get it for free?

Just wondering,

Jason

i am grateful for the space and am glad to contribute some small amounts for upgrades etc.

I think I paid for the upgrade to ExpanDrive3, and got an email from Jeff telling me I hadn't needed to do that, and wondering if I would take a refund. I told him he deserved to keep the money. I love ExpanDrive and StrongSpace, and even though I have lifetime "free", I'm more than willing to chip in a bit now and again to keep the services running. I also bought a Mac License, which I did need to do, for some reason. So, I'm pretty sure I can install ExpanDrive on all my windoz boxes with the one license, but need an additional one for the elderly macBook my daughter gave me.

I was wondering the same thing if we also got to use the new tools for free.  I have contacted their support group last night asking.  I will report back with what I hear.

I e-mailed them over a week ago in search of my Expandrive 2 license and haven't heard a word.

I paid for the upgrade also, wasn't much and I appreciate that they still honor the lifetime account.

I still haven't gotten a response from the 27th when I reached out to them. I think I may need to try to contact them again.

I'm not sure it's necessary to appreciate it or that they're honoring it in some way. My understanding is that Joyent made a deal for ongoing payment for those accounts when they did the sale. Joyent might be comfortable just reneging on their deal with us but I suspect that sale involved more concrete paperwork.

After about 4-5 emails looking for a status I got this today.

We're about to V4, and that free version will be brought back.
