Thought this article might be useful for those of you planning to set something up on Linode.

For my personal stuff I'm waiting to see how TextDrive II turns out, but I'll be moving my company's website to Linode in a few months.

That's a good checklist, thanks for sharing.

+1 for Linode.  Given the abysmal communication from Joyent about service shutdown combined with uncertainty about TxD II timing, I moved several sites off my joyent accounts to a Linode VPS last month.

Definitely took some time and effort to make the move, building out a VPS can be a challenge if you don't have sysadmin linux experience, but key factor to me in choosing Linode was that they have good docs and an activity community of users.

I'll give TextDrive II a shot, but better to put anything that needs to stay up on a stable home until the inevitable transition churn settles out.
