Development of Homosexual Identity in Muslims
Salam,
I found this in a medical textbook and I thought it
would be interesting to share. It takes us through the
stages which SSA individuals in North America go
through in the process of identifying themselves as
"gay", and accepting this social label because of
their identity confusion.
What I think we can learn from this is: that we can
interrupt this process at any point. Look at the table
below and look for each point where you can intervene
and make a positive change. There are things we can do
if we wish to avoid identifying as "gay" in western
societies. I hope this helps.

o Looking up to people in same-sex relationships

o Adoption of homosexual lifestyle
o Satisfaction with homosexual identity
o Commitment to a same-sex relationship
o Disclosure of sexual identity to heterosexuals
