So how have you been honoring the memory of Collective? Have you been
reading back through all the old content? Maybe re-visiting some of
its more memorable / dramatic moments? The banning of Sirius the Dog
Star. Swansong of Astrotomato. The influx of people defending that
obscure actor.

And there have been various attempts at reviving some of the
community. Facebook, Last.fm, and to plug myself for a second,
Digital Natives. It seems that Collective still creeps into
conversation in day to day life too, from time to time.

So come on. Let's shameless reminisce.

For a while most of my post-Collective professional life seemed to be
about getting people access to that Amy Winehouse interview we did at
the Big Chill in 2003.

The Big Chill was something I always associated with Collective
automatically. Bit of a coup, really.

Well, I did meet Spinky recently. That's something. He's a lovely man!
No surprise there.

Also, I talked to Savage on Xbox Live. He's a bad-tempered drunk! No
surprise there either.

(Math - Not sure I could find Spinky's email addy - would you forward
him an invite to the group? And anyone else you can think of -
thanks!).

Unfortunately I had to spend quite a lot of the early part of the year
doing exactly the opposite of keeping Collective alive...

Hello Ruth here,

I haven't been doing too well keeping Collective alive. Something
which reminded me of the site recently was the feature I did on Dance
to the Radio. The band that I focussed on for that feature (Forward
Russia) announced their split. It's the first time in ages I've felt
genuinely sad about a band not being around! Also I'd like to assure
Rowan that I'm a little better at speaking to a camera now!

Shrinkwrapped sent me a message a couple of weeks ago to say he's
playing in a band when I was heading to a festival. That's all I've
got in the way of communication!

Well,

My blog is struggling - it's having the time these days.

I keep showing people my reviews, but that's about it...

Not very good eh???

I'm hopefully that this group will work a little better. By the way,
tell me if you're getting hit by loads of emails from it, I could only
seem to access my own setting but am happy ot have another look.

I'm writing a novel! Have already finished two short stories. And
started a third short story. Inspired by sunsetbeach, and general high
levels of creativity and ambition of collectivites (at least before
the mong board trolls invaded).

I've lost my way with music and films (my goodness, I tried to watch
Evan Almighty the other day, and got an hour through before I turned
it off - it wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds some years ago).

I still see llamagirl - who is now with llamababy in llamabelly.

I'm re-playing the review of Nietzsche, which resulted in the
'swansong of astrotomato' - except now I'm doing it with 270,000
residents of north west London, and being rather successful with it.
Mwah hah hah hah..

Is that enough?
