Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

For 14 years I have been a devoted follower of the Brothers Gallagher,
a willing disciple of the Burnage creed and a loyal listener of the
Manchester sound.

However, dear brothers and sisters, I have decided to renounce my
faith. Yes, Oasis is dead.

Like Nietzsche declaring God Is Dead, I have had to do the same with
Oasis. There is no Oasis anymore, just a Baudrillardian hyperreal
version of the band that produced Definitely Maybe and (What's The
Story) Morning Glory? Since the release of those albums, I have waited
for a messianic return of the true Oasis, but alas, I have lost my
icons, my heroes, my belief.

Dig Out Your Soul has cut the cord I once had leashed to the concept
that there will be another Great Oasis Album. Its regurgitated sounds,
the soulless lyrics, the loss of Liam's voice and Noel's energy - it
is all too much. Oh, and the fact they've got their drummer from
Robbie Williams.

No, it's to others that I look for solace now - Jack White, Ian
Curtis, Alex Turner.

RIP Oasis, let past memories shine whilst recent ones fade away.

Amir Arezoo, October 2008.

What do you mean? They are surely as relevant now as they were 10
years ago?

I caught a little of the Oasis Electric Proms the other night on the
radio and Liam's voice sounded terrible! What's happened? I was never
an Oasis fan but now I believe they should definitely call it a day.
