So in a bid to get back into the Collective spirit, a musical
discussion!

Should they have won? I've never been a fan myself and always found
them, well, rather dull! I've followed their activities but never
really expressed any more interest than a good sing song when they
come on the radio.

I wanted British Sea Power to win, simply because they're one of my
favourite bands but I thought it might have been Radiohead's year.

I was hoping, and thinking, that Burial would get the gong. As soon as
I heard Untrue it sounded so ... gongy. Sadly it was not to be.

Hopefully Benga will win next year for Diary of an Afro Warrior which
is, like, totally awesome and doesn't sound very gongy at all.

of the ones i've heard, i'd like to have seen the last shadow puppets
win, but for all kinda reason they didn't.

as much as i love elbow, 'seldom heard kid' is quite boring ...

so, radiohead have never won then?

Nope. They've been nominated twice (I think) and never won it. I have
to admit the Shadow Puppets performance sounded amazing on the radio!

I always like to see it go to someone who it makes a difference too,
possibly because the prize money is small and the insinuation of that
is that it's not quite like winning a Bafta - I wonder how anything
could make a difference to Radiohead.

Another good reason for Burial to have won.

Also, he's brought dubstep to the masses, ie people like me. Without him I wouldn't have heard Shackleton or Pinch or Appleblim. My life would be poorer for that.

Someone give that man a gong!
