parents of Sarah D. Ewing who married Samuel W. McGaughey?

Hello--I am stuck on identifying the parents of Sarah D. Ewing, who was my 3great-grandmother.  She was probably born 1810-12, likely in Kentucky but possibly Virginia. She married Samuel W. McGaughey in Alabama in 1826.  Most genealogies show her father as Charles Ewing, but it's not clear which Charles, and there is no documentation that I can find that lists a daughter Sarah for the Charles Ewing in Bedford or Rockingham County Virginia. FYI, most of Sarah and Samuel's children were born in Leake County, Mississippi; she then moved to Texas with my great-grandfather, Charles Monroe McGaughey.  She died there in 1885.

 I feel like I am missing something obvious in my quest for her parents. Can someone help me identify them?

I’m from the Robert of Otter bunch of Bedford County and manage my mom’s DNA test online. If you’re on Ancestry LMK and I’ll see if you have a close match to her - might help you rule in or out Robert’s brother Charles.

I'M Dustin Ewing. My Grandfather is Thomas E. Ewing are family is from Covington KY, and the Greater Cincinnati & Tri State Area. But alot in KY & Ohio. Just a few in Indiana. His Father was Ennis Ewing. I don't know his father's name, or Grandfather'(s)+ names. Can anyone help me with this?. I'm a U.S. Army Purple Heart Awarded Combat Veteran. I served in Iraq & Afghanistan. I was wounded In 2011 in East Afghanistan. Close to the Pakistan Boarder. Then I was medically Retired from Service in 2013. Please can someone help me in this matter?

You can Google up " James Ewing Pioneer of Pocahontas County Virginia."  Look for the family tree of " William " Swago Bill " Ewing Family Tree" maybe you can find what you are looking for.

You will get several hits within the EFA website, though looking through them quickly, I suspect the Thomas E. Ewings you’ll find were born long before your grandfather. You may have better luck searching your grandmother’s (Thomas’s wife) maiden name. 

You may want also to consider ordering the Big-Y test from FamilyTreeDNA.com. It is pretty spendy, put it would help you narrow your search to a specific branch of the family. The other Y-DNA tests there are cheaper but much less likely to be helpful.
