Hello, I am a Ewing from County Tyrone N Ireland , now living in England. I have come across a photo taken by EL Lane, Fort William Ontario, approx early 1900s. The photo is coming away from the mount and on the back of the photo it says Ewing 4797a - so presuming it’s of a family member which has been sent back to Ireland. I don’t know who this is, my grandfather and his brothers all remained in Ireland. It could possibly be a cousin as he had an uncle John Ewing, who I have been unable to track down.
My great grandparents (David and Mary) were living in Cavan, outside Fintona, County Tyrone by the 1850s, their son John had been born in Corbally, near Dromore, County Tyrone around 1838 and other townlands associated with them are Legatiggle, Carnalea and possibly Knocknahorn, all of which are in County Tyrone.
I am not a member of the Ewing Association, but was wondering if anyone could relate to the photo or the areas mentioned which could possibly help identify who the photo is of. I also sent the photo to the museum at Thunder Bay some months ago hoping they may be able to assist, but no luck yet. I am open to any other suggestions on how to proceed.
Kind Regards, Ann Ewing
