Dear Ms. Jones,

Go to www.EwingFamilyAssociation.org and click on "Search Site" at the upper right. Then search for Doddridge. I did this and found four hits, three of them in the John Ewing of Carnashannagh EGD (Ewing Genealogy Documentation project) Genealogy and one of them in a book posted on our website. I did not study these, but the first was in Gallia, OH. You could also search for "George Michael Doddridge" and any number of variants you might be able to think of. I feel sure you will find the family you are interested in, and though you will probably not find the primary source you need to satisfy the DAR, you may very well find a lead there that will be helpful to you.

Charles Tunis Dodrill in 1967 wrote a book "Heritage of a Pioneer."
It might contain the documentation that you need. I do not have a
copy, but a quick search of the Internet brings up several hits. As
you point out, the Doddrill name originally was Doddridge, but it also
was spelled Daughdrill. Pertinent information might be found by
looking in censuses and other sources using the those two surnames.
Good luck! Wallace K. Ewing
