WorldVistA is a 501 (c)(3) charitable non-profit organization run exclusively
by volunteers. Besides distributing an open source licensed version of VistA
called WorldVistA EHR free of charge, WorldVistA hosts VistA Community
Meetings twice a year where the use of VistA's and its derivatives inside and
outside of the VA is discussed. The next meeting is being held Friday through
Sunday, August 11-13 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

The meeting brings together developers, users, academics, government
employees, volunteers, vendors and international participants that have a
common interest in VistA, VistA derived software such as RPMS, and open
source medical software in general such as HLN's ICE Immunization Forecasting
and content as well such as open source drug and drug interaction content..
Meetings are about networking and discussing new ideas as much as listening to
talks, so please do join us.

This is a Friday through Sunday so I am hoping those who may not usually be
able to attend because of conflicts with their day jobs will be able to join us
to help plan for the future.

Like usual, the meeting page is just beginning to build its content. It is
here:

Just a reminder that the next VistA Community Meeting is just two weeks away.
We are hoping to use GoToMeeting there to allow remote presentations, so
please let me know if you would like to present. We are also considering
having some longer sessions where we hear presentations and then try to help
presenters solve the issues they are having with their software over the
weekend. Please let me know if you are interested in participating in person
or remotely.

Can we please use something that's a little more friendly to all operating systems? freeconferencecall.com works with Windows, Mac and Linux and does both desktop sharing and conference calling. Thanks

GoToMeeting does work with Linux if you use Chrome. I know because I use it.
I was not thrilled to use it, but it has the features I need right now and
seems to work well and easily. I do have to start the sessions on Windows for
the organizer, but there is no problem with presenting from Linux.

I just checked, and GoToMeeting does not work on chromium (an open source browswer), complaining about an unsupported browser. It does not complain on chrome.(chromium plus proprietary extensions), but I have not verified that features like desktop sharing work.
