Hi All,

Would anyone be available over the next couple of weeks to do some research for WHO and We Care Solar on the impacts of energy poverty on specific health outcomes and the degree of solar installation use in health facilities in developing countries? Please see below for more details...

If you are interested please email Elaine Fletcher at flet...@who.int for more information (if possible could you please CC me at victoria...@ewb.co.uk so that I can keep track of things).

Cheers and hopefully see you all at the next Design for Global Health Workshop on Feb 12th.

Regards,

Vicky

WE CARE solar, www.wecaresolar.org, is working with WHO on a UBS-funded project to install solar panels in Liberian health clinics for improved maternal delivery.

Annette Kuesel and Elaine Fletcher who are involved in this project from WHO-side, would be interested in identifying a student who could help them "jump start" a literature search on two issues:

1. health literature on the impacts of energy poverty (lack of access to electricity) on specific health outcomes, particularly maternal and newborn health, but could also be other major areas such as vaccine cold chain failure, etc.
2. Literature on the % or degree of solar installation use in health facilities of poor countries. (We have been collecting data on % of electrification, but that data does not break down into solar installations.

If someone in EWB is interested they get in touch with Elaine at flet...@who.int.

Hi Vicky!

I can't remember if I replied this email. But I'm interested =P.

How are things going?

Thanks and take care,
Clara
