Dear HTM!
I have news of our next workshop which I am planning to hold at Imperial College on the evening of December 14th. I have two talks arranged for the evening:
1. Adriana Velazquez - the every enthusiastic coordinator of the Essential Healthcare Technologies Department at the WHO who will be flying over from Geneva to speak to us! She has a wealth of knowledge in this area and is an excellent person to ask about what technologies are needed and how we, as a group, can improve access to healthcare technologies in the developing world.
2. Three Biomedical Engineers from Freetown Sierra Leone are visiting the UK for a month as part of a Health Links programme with Swansea NHS Trust and will present their experiences of barriers to medical devices at their healthcare facility back home. Once again, if you are looking for ideas or a partner organisation to work with, these are the guys to ask!
As we have two very good speakers and only a few weeks before the event I wanted to get a good idea of how many people might be able to make it along. With the run up to christmas and deadlines looming I reckognise that it might be difficult for some of you to attend and I don't want either Adriana or the Engineers to have a wasted trip and for any of you guys to miss out!
So... it would be really helpful if each of you could email me back directly (not the whole group) either YES or NO as to whether you think you will be able to make it to a meeting on December 14th. If the resounding answer is NO (or if I don't get many replies) we can arrange the same session for early January instead.
Thank you all in advance!
Vicky
