Electrical Engineer Wanted:
Interested in engineering for development and global health? Winners of last year's Global Health Hack Day and IdeaTransformcompetition, SIM-Prints is a young initiative working to improve patient identification and authentication in resource-poor settings through mobile biometrics. At the moment exciting fingerprint applications are currently being used from everything from improving vaccination coverage to tracking tuberculosis drugs, but limited mobility prevents their use from making an even bigger impact. Our goal is to build a durable, portable, and inexpensive fingerprint scanner that is capable of transmitting the unique id's associated with each fingerprint over a mobile phone network. We're looking for qualified electrical engineering students to work with our programmers and local Cambridge technology consultancies in developing phase I & II prototypes to be field-tested this summer. Please email Toby (tn...@cam.ac.uk) with your background if you're interested in joining our team!
