Hear from experts on medicine and humanitarian aid in world disasters

The Annual Healthcare Lecture on 'Disaster Medicine and the History of Humanitarianism' will be addressed by Professor Anthony Redmond OBE, Deputy Director of The Humanitarian & Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) at the University of Manchester and Professor Bertrand Taithe, Executive Director, HCRI who will give us an insight into their experience of the last 20 years.

Professor Redmond has provided medical assistance in response to natural disasters, major incidents, conflicts and complex emergencies throughout the world. In 2008 he led a team of surgeons to Haiti to provide emergency medicine in the wake of the devastating earthquake.

Professor Taithe has spent many years researching in the field of humanitarianism and the history of medicine. His most recent work includes research on the history of humanitarianism in relation to military medicine, in particular colonial and missionary medicine.

I look forward to seeing you there.
